The President Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the media. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the government to suspend refugee claims and cease granting visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
