The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic landscape. This initiative has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.
Launch products will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several premium versions.
Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the players enter the story.
Development on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for the latter part of 2026.
An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
An early look at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic approach. Players leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, players select a single “resolution die” from the group.
- This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.
Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness
Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Novel Wound Mechanic
The way health is tracked introduces a interesting narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At critical condition, an operative collapses, but is not knocked out.
- They may still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A free introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
