"All my colleagues has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

However, the situation is now staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 matches when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The tourists - and their followers - will be desperate to avoid a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

One sibling noted the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent times had "reinvigorated" the longest format for England fans.

But the Ryding siblings said they had minimal hopes for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are requesting from the players is "a bit of fight".

"All analysts points it out, but it all comes down to mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.

"During a long match, you should dig in. Playing at deliveries 'sixth stump' areas has not been part of the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the frontline batsmen."

Future Prospects

When questioned if he believed England will secure a victory in this contest, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the hosts are a stronger side at the moment."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that delivers for the team and turns the game."

Even with the series lost, the fans are anticipating the trip.

"We are going to have a great time anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Naturally, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We will make the most of spending the festive season overseas. Additionally, it's a new experience for us traveling at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"Should the cricket disappoint, there's always golf to rely on," Katie concluded.
