The striker has joined the Championship side just half a year following starting disrespectful songs directed at their manager, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy career at Elland Road finished amicably in August.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion celebrations this spring. Now, the one-cap England international is set to play for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to pull his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past History Between Bamford & Wilder

Both men had previous conflict before Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign and United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades won automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

All seems to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack and Bamford looking to revive his playing days.

The Wilder chant spread widely in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue at all with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion together and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and take it and that’s part and parcel of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
