Emma Raducanu ends the current season and has decided to continue with trainer through next year.

The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments of the year as a result of a medical condition that has affected her over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching next year's training.

Her upcoming training will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering in 2026.

She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her during parts of the season.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points prior to falling to Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories in the current season and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
